Additional information about the history:
In 1796, the then board decided that the municipality should have its own town hall. Until then it was housed in the church portal. However, it will still take several years before a solution is found. New construction is too expensive for the municipality and that is why they are looking at an existing solution. One notices the home of Wilhelmijna Wijnants, the widow of Jan van Hoorn. The building does need to be renovated. On April 1, 1805, the municipality acquired the property for f. 120,–. A year later, specifications are drawn up to make the building suitable. The house will be given a new layout and the roof will be restored. The work is accepted by contractor Huijbert Mikkers for the sum of f. 464,–, almost 4 times as much as the purchase price. In 1808, the building was used as the town hall of the municipality of Oerle. It has served as a municipal workspace for almost a century, but also as a prison.
In 1907 the building was sold to the Sisters of Charity. The Van Hout family lived there for a while and then it became the home of the De Lepper – van den Broek family. Despite the fact that the building has been given a modern appearance, one can still clearly recognize the old town hall.
